Senator Conroy: The Minister for Foreign Affairs has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question: The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade does not keep a record of the number of Australians who travel overseas without travel insurance. The Insurance Council of Australia estimates that around 15 to 20 percent of Australians who travel internationally do not have insurance.
