Mr FLETCHER (Bradfield—Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts) (14:04): I thank the member for her question. As the Prime Minister has said, pensions are regularly indexed. Indeed, under this government, the amount of money that goes to those on the age pension has increased significantly since we've been in government. Our commitment is to a sustainable social services system. Under the previous Labor government the challenge that we faced was that the social services system was not sustainable. We are determined to make sure that it is sustainable so that the rate of growth of social services spending is less than the rate of growth in tax and revenue. The SPEAKER: The Manager of Opposition Business on a point of order? Mr Burke: It's on direct relevance. The question asks for the number of pensioners who would be negatively impacted by that legislation. Relevant comments such as '175,000' are not being made by the minister. The SPEAKER: The minister has indicated he's concluded his answer. I call the member for Cowper.
