Senator LUDWIG (Queensland—Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and Minister Assisting on Queensland Floods Recovery) (14:26): Dealing with the broad view of Australia's objectives, I had not quite finished the first part. I will come to the second part shortly. Australia's objectives ahead of the Doha round on 26 November to 7 December are: to finalise the second commitment period of the Kyoto protocol and conclude the ad hoc working group on the Kyoto protocol; to recognise the achievements of the AWG-LCA and move to implemented outcomes as it closes; to enhance further work to cut emissions before 2020, beginning with securing new commitments to cut emissions by countries that have not yet done so; and to continue the open-minded thinking of the new agreement. The PRESIDENT: Senator Ludwig, you need to come to the question. Senator LUDWIG: So in respect of the agreement that we have reached for cutting emissions, this government stands by the agreement that it has put in place to cut emissions. (Time expired)
