Senator Chris Evans: The Prime Minister has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question: The following answers represent all departments and agencies within the Prime Minister's portfolio. The answers include investigations undertaken by the Public Service Commissioner in fulfilment of his statutory responsibilities. (1) (a) and (b)— Investigations completed in 2010-11 11 Investigations completed 1 July 2011 to 29 August 2011 2 (2) (a)— 2010-11 investigations that established a breach of the Code of Conduct 7 1 July 2011 to 29 August 2011 investigations that established a breach of the Code of Conduct 0 (b)— 2010-11 investigations that did not establish a breach of the Code of Conduct 4 1 July 2011 to 29 August 2011 investigations that did not establish a breach of the Code of Conduct 2 (3)— Element of the Code of Conduct Number of employees investigated 2010-2011 1 July to 29 August 2011 At all times behave in a way that upholds the APS Values and the integrity and good reputation of the APS 6 Comply with any lawful and reasonable direction given by someone in the employee's agency who has authority to give the direction 2 Use Commonwealth resources in a proper manner 4 1 Behave honestly and with integrity in the course of APS employment 4 When acting in the course of APS employment, treat everyone with respect and courtesy, and without harassment 5 1 When acting in the course of APS employment, comply with all applicable Australian laws 1 Disclose, and take reasonable steps to avoid, any conflict of interest (real or apparent) in connection with APS employment 2 Not make improper use of: inside information, or the employee's duties, status, power or authority, in order to gain, or seek to gain, a benefit or advantage for the employee or for any other person 1 Maintain appropriate confidentiality about dealings that the employee has with any minister or minister's member of staff 1 (4)— Outcome of investigation Number of employees 2010-2011 1 July to 29 August 2011 Reprimand 4 Deductions from salary by way of a fine 1 Investigation discontinued because of resignation of employee under investigation 2 Reduction in salary 1 Employee counselled 1 Breach found but no sanction imposed 2 No breach found 1 2 (5) There were six ongoing investigations on 29 August 2011.
