Senator WATERS (Queensland—Leader of the Australian Greens in the Senate) (14:17): My question is to the Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, representing the minister for energy and emissions increases. The PRESIDENT: Order! Senator Waters, I'm going to insist that the correct titles of minister are used. Please don't do that again. Senator WATERS: So noted. RepuTex have reported today that emissions from gas production are a mind-boggling 621 per cent above 2005 levels. Industrial emissions are also up 60 per cent driven by the huge amounts of energy required to liquefy gas for LNG export. Gas is wiping out all of the gains of renewable energy. Why are you pretending that gas is our saviour?
