Senator Edwards asked the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, upon notice, on 23 August 2012: With reference to the snail problem on the Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula and in other regions of South Australia: (1) Since 2003, what action has the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) taken to address this problem. (2) Does GRDC have a role in ensuring the quality of grain leaving South Australia is not contaminated with abandoned snail shells collected during grain harvest.
