QUESTIONS ON NOTICE › Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (Question No. 2112)
Senator Edwards asked the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, upon notice, on 23 August 2012: With reference to the snail problem on the Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula and in other regions of South Australia: (1) What action has Wheat Exports Australia (WEA) taken to: (a) address this problem; and (b) ensure the quality of grain leaving South Australia is not contaminated with abandoned snail shells collected during grain harvest. (2) How much has WEA spent, or is expecting to spend, on dealing with this problem. (3) Who will be responsible for the integrity of Australian grain exports given the proposed phasing-out of WEA in 2012.
