Senator GALLAGHER (Australian Capital Territory—Minister for the Public Service, Minister for Finance, Minister for Women, Manager of Government Business in the Senate and Vice-President of the Executive Council) (14:55): All of those areas are covered by Closing the Gap, where there are programs. This is an important report that is provided annually to the parliament on improving the educational outcomes of First Nations Australians, ensuring that we are dealing with some of those health issues that we have outlined, looking at issues around justice and offending. There are a whole range of areas that we have to continue to work on. We are making progress in some areas, but we need to do more. I can tell you that the amount of effort and investment going into this area is unprecedented. In housing, which is also a critical issue, we have a record housing investment, which Minister Burney led when she was in that position, which will actually make a difference. If you have a house and you have stable living arrangements, you're more likely to finish school. All of this is interconnected, and we're all focused on improving the lives of First Nations Australians.
