Senator McKENZIE (Victoria—Leader of the Nationals in the Senate) (14:38): My question is to the Minister representing the Treasurer, Senator Gallagher. Farming families are frequently cash poor, but they make a living off farmland whose value has tripled on paper over recent years, value that will remain unrealised potentially for decades for intergenerational farming operations. Will farmers that hold such land in self-managed super funds be forced to pay tens of thousands more in taxes under Labor's doubling of the super tax due do nothing more than paper fluctuations in commercial property prices?
