Senator CASH (Western Australia—Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business) (14:43): As a senator for Western Australia and also the senators for Queensland in particular, we understand the benefits of the resources sector to Australians and rural and regional Australia. At the last election—in fact you just have to look at the result in the state of Queensland—what did Queenslanders do? They emphatically endorsed the Morrison government's commitment to mining. Senator Cormann: Seventy-seven per cent of the seats. Senator CASH: What was that, Senator Cormann? How many? Seventy-seven per cent of the seats. What did they also do in Queensland? They rejected the Labor opposition's pandering to inner-city elites and the Australian Greens. Why did they do that? Because they understand that the resources sector in Australia creates jobs for Australians. We, the coalition government, the Morrison government, support mining because the resources sector accounts not just for employment but so much when it comes to the contribution to our GDP. The PRESIDENT: Senator Molan, a final supplementary question.
