Senator McGRATH (Queensland—Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister) (16:18): I seek leave to make a short statement. The PRESIDENT: Leave is granted for one minute. Senator McGRATH: The coalition government recognises the valour, service and sacrifice of Australia's current and former Defence Force personnel. As part of the Centenary of Anzac, the government delivered a large program of commemorations, including activities both here in Australia and internationally. Defence Force personnel have been actively involved in these commemoration activities, which continue this year. They are an appropriate way to commemorate this significant anniversary in our nation's history. However, while the government appreciates the intent behind the creation of a commemorative medal, we have no plans to create such a medal at this time. As such, we oppose part (d) of the motion and ask that the question on this part be put separately from the question on the other parts.
