Senator Bob Carr: The Minister for Veterans’ Affairs has provided the following answer to the honourable Senator’s question: The Department, including the Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service (VVCS), can report the following expenditure on advertising for mental health services paid in the respective financial years. Year Program Amount $ 2006-07 VVCS – general promotion of VVCS programs and services 6,088 2007-08 VVCS – general promotion of VVCS programs and services 7,722 2008-09 VVCS – general promotion of VVCS programs and services 24,970 2009-10 The Right Mix alcohol management program 110,877 VVCS – general promotion of VVCS programs and services 49,567 2010-11 The Right Mix alcohol management program 108,817 Touch Base 1,418 VVCS – general promotion of VVCS programs and services 69,361 2011-12 Changes to registration and referral processes for allied mental health providers 61,695 Wellbeing Toolbox 29,134 VVCS – general promotion of VVCS programs and services 71,209 Touchbase 1,418 This expenditure includes paid media placement in metropolitan and regional media, Australian Defence Force (ADF) newspapers, and medical and allied mental health association journals. VVCS advertising is for promotion of the range of VVCS programs including counselling and group programs, Operation Life suicide awareness workshops, Stepping Out and Heart Health programs.
