Senator Bushby asked the Minister representing the Treasurer, upon notice, on 23 April 2012: With reference to the Australian Taxation Office Annual Report 2010-11, which states that 'during 2010-11, 3 466 formal notices were issued across all markets to obtain relevant information and documents': (1) What is the comparable figure for the 2011-12 financial year, for the period ending 31 March 2012. (2) Have any trends become evident; if so, can an explanation be provided. (3) Can a breakdown be provided detailing the exercise of these functions by heads of powers, as per the presentation in the 2010-11 annual report. (4) Has there been any judicial comment in relation to the exercise of these powers during the 2011-12 financial year; if so, can details be provided.
