Mr DUTTON (Dickson—Leader of the Opposition) (14:03): My question is to the Prime Minister. Prime Minister, you've completely mishandled your Canberra Voice proposal, and it's increasingly clear that the Voice referendum is not going to deliver the moment of national unity that the 1967 referendum delivered. How can you in good conscience drive the country to a divisive referendum on 14 October? As the writs are yet to be issued, will the Prime Minister withdraw his Voice referendum so that we can avoid an outcome which sets back reconciliation and divides the nation? Dr Chalmers: You want two referendums. The SPEAKER: The Treasurer will cease interjecting.
