Senator BIRMINGHAM (South Australia—Leader of the Opposition in the Senate) (14:05): Minister, both you and the Treasurer have tried to claim an emphasis on spending restraint, yet how is this a case when, compared with the last budget update in MYEFO, tax receipts have gone up again in each of the forward years but so have deficits forecast compared with MYEFO? Isn't it clear that you are spending faster than even your record revenue intake is growing?
