Senator McGRATH: The government opposes the amendment, as it substantially changes the intent of the motion. The Liberal-National Party government will never change the flag, nor will we shift Australia Day, nor will we be tearing down statues or chiselling off plaques or rewriting history. We are very proud of the flag and we will continue to fly the flag as long as we are in government. The PRESIDENT: The question is that the amendment moved by Senator Siewert be agreed to.
