Senator SIEWERT (Western Australia—Australian Greens Whip) (12:37): I, and also on behalf of Senator Peris, move: That the Senate— (a) notes: (i) the launch of the Roadmap to Close the Gap for Vision by the University of Melbourne released in July 2014, (ii) that Aboriginal adults are 6 times more likely to become blind than non-Aboriginal Australians, and (iii) that 94 per cent of vision loss in Aboriginal adult Australians is preventable or treatable; and (b) urges the Federal Government to: (i) review the report and provide national leadership on eye health, and (ii) address the gap between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal eye health as a matter of priority.
