Senator McEWEN (South Australia—Government Whip in the Senate) (11:58): At the request of Senators Pratt and Hanson-Young, I move: That the Senate expresses grave concern: (a) regarding discriminatory legislation against lesbian, bi, gay and transgender people currently before the Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg in Russia; and (b) that these proposed laws undermine the human rights of lesbian, bi, gay and transgender people and breach human rights treaty obligations to which Russia is signatory.
