Senator Chris Evans: The Minister for Defence has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question: (1) Yes. (2) As was the case with the Collins Class submarines and the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) projects, it is expected that Future Submarines will be assembled from components and possibly modules manufactured in a number of locations around Australia and overseas. Final assembly will take place in South Australia. The term 'built' would therefore be misleading.
