Senator FAWCETT: I, and also on behalf of Senator Sterle, move: That the Senate— (a) condemns the tragic violence towards Coptic Christians in Egypt; (b) expresses grave concerns for the safety of Copts in Egypt; (c) condemns the recent attacks on 9 October 2011 in Cairo, resulting in 27 fatalities and more than 300 injuries; and (d) calls on the Government to make further representations to the Egyptian Government to strengthen its efforts to promote and practice tolerance towards all citizens.
