Mr FRYDENBERG (Kooyong—Minister for the Environment and Energy) (14:49): I thank the member for Berowra for his question and know he is a hardworking member who supports the efforts on this side to ensure we get lower electricity prices and a more stable system. That includes enabling the gas suppliers to put more gas into the domestic market. We welcome the announcements from both Origin and Santos recently. We're doing work to rein in the power of the poles-and-wires companies. While the Labor Party wants to send it off to committee, we introduce legislation to abolish the limited merits review. And we have won significant concessions from retailers to offer Australian families a better deal. I am asked: are there any threats to this approach? The biggest threat to power prices and to a more stable system come from Blackout Bill and Brownout Butler. Mr Burke interjecting— The SPEAKER: The Manager of Opposition Business will resume his seat. The Minister for the Environment and Energy will resume his seat and we will go to the next question.
