Senator CHISHOLM (Queensland—Assistant Minister for Regional Development, Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Assistant Minister for Resources and Deputy Manager of Government Business in the Senate) (13:09): Firstly, I'd like to thank those senators who've contributed to this debate. I thank Senator Darmanin and the Economic Legislation Committee for their inquiry into the bill and note the committee's recommendation that the bill be passed. The government is addressing a technical error in regulations that have applied indexation to certain company reviews since 2011. The government has acted swiftly to ensure that the current fee structure does not need to change and that there will be no disruption to businesses and individuals who engage with ASIC, the business regulators. Users of the registries can have confidence that the government is correcting this error to maintain predictable and consistent business registry fees. I commend this bill to the Senate. The ACTING DEPUTY PRESIDENT ( Senator Hodgins-May ): The question is that the bill now be read a second time. Question agreed to. Bill read a second time.
