Senator RUSTON (South Australia—Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Senate) (12:54): Like my colleagues who have spoken before me today on this side of the chamber, I support this motion and the reason why we are discussing this issue today. The opposition is happy to consider a separate motion condemning racism in all its forms—we all abhor and condemn racism—but the principal motion that we are speaking to today is about anti-Jewish and antisemitic intimidation and violence in this country. Therefore, we support the motion, as amended by Senator Paterson, in its original form. We will not be supporting Senator Thorpe's motion.
