Senator RUSTON (South Australia—Minister for Families and Social Services and Manager of Government Business in the Senate) (16:13): I seek leave to make a short statement. The PRESIDENT: Leave is granted for one minute. Senator RUSTON: Australia has an enviable track record of meeting and beating our international emissions reductions commitments. We've beaten our Kyoto-era targets by up to 430 million tonnes and we're on track to meet our 2030 target. These are achievements Australians can be proud of. Climate change is a global problem requiring a global solution. That is why the Paris Agreement aims to achieve global net zero in the second half of the century. As a signatory, Australia is committed to that goal and, as the PM has said, we want to achieve that goal as soon as possible.
