I can confirm to the Senate that agreement had been reached with the opposition manager of business and other whips across the chamber earlier today. Leave granted. The statement read as follows — Once again Senator Keneally is not across the detail. The fact is the Coalition has acted on the Productivity Commission findings published a population policy, reduced the migration ceiling from 190,000 to 160,000 and established a Centre for Population abolished Labor's out-of-control 457 program, cut the occupation lists, introduced stringent age, English language, and work experience requirements, and strengthened Labour Market Testing introduced a new Sponsored Parent Temporary visa acted to stop exploitation by adopting the recommendations of the Migrant Workers Taskforce. The Government refutes Labor's claim that temporary migrants - students, New Zealanders, tourists - are changing Australia for the worse.
