Senator DU NIAM (Tasmania—Assistant Minister for Forestry and Fisheries and Assistant Minister for Regional Tourism) (16:25): I seek leave to make a short statement. The PRESIDENT: Leave is granted for one minute. Senator DUNIAM: The Australian government conveys its sincere condolences to the government and the people of New Zealand on the passing of former Prime Minister Mike Moore. Mr Moore will be remembered as a politician of deep conviction who worked tirelessly to improve the lives of New Zealanders. Well liked and respected across the political spectrum, Mr Moore was a force on the world stage, as highlighted by his successful time as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization and also New Zealand's Ambassador to the United States. Mr Moore's advocacy of multilateralism and trade liberalisation, including as the head of the WTO, where he oversaw the launch of the Doha Development Agenda, remains greatly appreciated by Australia. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr Moore's family and the people of New Zealand. Question agreed to.
