Senator McGRATH (Queensland) (16:59): I move: That the Senate— (a) notes: (i) the recent Maldivian presidential election held on 23 September 2018, and (ii) that His Excellency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, candidate for the Maldivian Democratic Party and, as part of a coalition of opposition parties, was victorious as the Maldives' democratically-elected President; (b) formally extends its congratulations to His Excellency Ibrahim (lbu) Mohamed Solih on his election as President of the Republic of Maldives; and (c) acknowledges the desire of The Maldives to be re-admitted to the Commonwealth of Nations.
