Senator McGRATH (Queensland—Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister) (15:44): I seek leave to make a short statement. The PRESIDENT: Leave is granted for one minute. Senator McGRATH: The government is committed to combating tuberculosis, which remains a serious challenge in our region. We have partnered with Papua New Guinea since 2012 to tackle TB. In Papua New Guinea, our efforts to address drug resistance in Western Province have helped to increase the proportion of people completing treatment to 99 per cent, up from 65 per cent in 2014. The government's Indo-Pacific Health Security Initiative and contribution to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria provide significant support regionally and globally. The government has been actively engaged in the preparations for the upcoming United Nations high-level meeting on TB. Question agreed to.
