Senator McKIM (Tasmania) (16:12): I seek leave to make a short statement. The PRESIDENT: Leave is granted for one minute. Senator McKIM: Tasmania is a traditional and proud AFL footy state that has been repeatedly shafted by the powers in the AFL. We deserve our own men's and women's teams, and it is simply not good enough for the AFL to keep referring this off into the never-never. We need a clear statement from the AFL that lays out a pathway for Tasmania to have both men's and women's AFL teams based in Tasmania with 'Tasmania' in their names so that the Tasmanian football community, which is a massive, proud and motivated community, can get behind men's and women's Tasmanian teams in the AFL. Fold the failing Gold Coast Suns and give the licence to Tasmania! Question agreed to.
