Mr ABBOTT (Warringah—Leader of the Opposition) (14:04): I rise to support the eloquent words of the Prime Minister in commemoration of Corporal Scott Smith, who is the latest casualty of our commitment to Afghanistan. It is a just cause but a costly one. It is a worthwhile mission but an extremely dangerous one. Corporal Smith was indeed a brave and dedicated soldier. We are proud of him as we are proud of all who wear a uniform and serve our country in combat. We especially honour his family as they grieve for someone they love, someone whose life was good but was tragically cut short. To his father, Murray, to his mother, Katrina, to his sister, Roxanne, to his partner, Liv, go our deepest condolences. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
