Senator NASH (New South Wales—Deputy Leader of The Nationals, Minister for Regional Development, Minister for Local Government and Territories and Minister for Regional Communications) (14:40): In the 2016-17 budget the government agreed to simplify the Practice Incentives Program and introduce a new quality improvement incentive. It is proposed that participation in this incentive will involve the sharing of practice data with a third party, such as PHNs, based on a small number of key indicators which will be negotiated and agreed with the sector. The work undertaken under the Primary Care Collaborative's program is likely to inform the development of these key indicators. Over time it is expected that the quality of data against these indicators will improve and thereby improve health outcomes for patients.
