Dr LEIGH (Fraser) (11:20): by leave—I move: That the motion be amended to read: That this House requests the Government, as soon as practicable, to commence a process to examine the risks and benefits of enacting legislation to curb the facility for creditor litigation in Australia against those countries who have been deemed by the International Monetary Fund and World Bank eligible for debt relief under the enhanced Heavily Indebted Poor Countries Initiative, with similar effect to the United Kingdom’s Debt Relief (Developing Countries) Act 2010 which received tripartite support in the United Kingdom Parliament, and to report back to Parliament in the Autumn Session 2013.
