Senator McGRATH (Queensland—Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister) (15:44): I seek leave to make a short statement. The PRESIDENT: You have been granted leave for one minute. Senator McGRATH: The Australian government is committed to polio eradication, and it has provided $80 million since 2011 to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative to date. Our current four-year polio and routine immunisation commitment includes $36 million to the initiative and $36 million to the World Bank to strengthen immunisation systems in our region to avert the risk of polio re-emerging. The government is not in a position to support paragraph (c) of the motion as it exceeds current commitments. For this reason, we would oppose the motion. Question agreed to.
