MOTIONS › Legal and Constitutional Affairs References Committee: Questions on Notice
Senator McGRATH (Queensland—Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister) (15:44): I seek leave to make a short statement. The PRESIDENT: Leave is granted for one minute. Senator McGRATH: The government opposes this motion as unnecessary and a waste of the Senate's time. The Attorney-General tabled answers to the outstanding questions on notice on 23 and 24 March. Those answers included a comprehensive explanation of the basis of the claims of public interest immunity, referring to well settled legal principles. The PRESIDENT: The question is that general business notice of motion No. 274, moved by Senator Urquhart, be agreed to.
