Senator POLLEY (Tasmania) (15:56): I, and also on behalf of Senator Urquhart, move: That the Senate— (a) notes: (i) the destructive impact of the floods in Tasmania which have had a devastating effect on the people of Tasmania, local communities and the natural environment, (ii) the erosion of prime agricultural farmland, effect on agriculture, destruction of roads and bridges and consequential impact on the local economy; (b) recognises the unwavering commitment and hard work of the emergency services, SES volunteers, business and community groups and the broader community for their exceptional efforts in responding to this natural disaster; and (c) expresses its sincere condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the floods.
