Senator CANAVAN (Queensland—Nationals Whip in the Senate) (15:41): I move: That the Senate notes: (a) the Commonwealth Government is investing $50 billion in infrastructure; (b) that as part of the Government's investment in infrastructure, it has committed to providing up to $95 million dollars to support the completion of the Gold Coast Light Rail Stage Two project prior to the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games; and (c) the importance of significant funding proposals being accompanied by detailed business cases and subject to a full assessment process, including by Infrastructure Australia, if $100 million or more of Commonwealth funding is sought, to ensure value for taxpayers' money.
