Senator SIEWERT (Western Australia—Australian Greens Whip) (16:41): At the request of Senator Milne, I move: That the Senate— (a) notes that: (i) on 13 October 2014, the British House of Commons passed a motion to recommend the United Kingdom recognise the state of Palestine, and (ii) the state of Palestine is currently recognised by 135 states; and (b) supports the passage of the same motion as that supported by the British House of Commons, namely, the Government should recognise the state of Palestine alongside the state of Israel, as a contribution to securing a negotiated two state solution.
