Senator MOORE (Queensland) (17:11): I seek leave to make a short statement. The PRESIDENT: Leave is granted for one minute. Senator MOORE: Labor was not consulted about the wording of this motion beforehand. Labor recently announced a comprehensive plan for protection of the reef and, of course, supports real action on climate change—unlike the government. Passing motions in the Senate that have not been subject to prior consideration is not a substitute for proper management by relevant agencies of the many issues at play. The parliaments of the Commonwealth and Queensland have established agencies to manage planning and project selection, and they should be allowed to do their job. The PRESIDENT: The question is that the motion moved by Senator Waters be agreed to.
